Between January and November 2024, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) increased its support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) by 46% compared to the same period in the previous year. The amount of credit approved through indirect operations reached R$ 80.1 billion, surpassing the R$ 54.8 billion recorded in 2023.

Over the course of these 11 months, BNDES partner financial agents disbursed a total of R$ 100.4 billion in credit to companies of various sizes, with 80% of this amount allocated to MSMEs. In 2023, the total volume handled by financial agents was R$ 74.5 billion, with 73% directed toward micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante emphasized that the partnership model between BNDES and financial agents enables the bank to reach more than 90% of Brazilian municipalities. “This helps expand access to credit for MSMEs, a crucial segment for the country’s economy, job creation, and the reduction of regional inequalities,” he stated.

The figures were presented during the Financial Agents Forum, held in December at the BNDES headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The event brought together 145 representatives from 46 partner institutions, reaffirming the shared commitment to fostering economic and social development in Brazil.
