Among the 50 finalists of the Startup Competition at South Summit Brazil 2025, 11 are from Rio Grande do Sul, the highest number among Brazilian states represented in the contest. One of them is Privacy Tools, a company that is solidifying its leadership position in the national market for data privacy and protection solutions. Founded by Aline Deparis, the startup offers a platform that automates and accelerates compliance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD) as well as major international data privacy regulations.

For Aline, being part of such a select group, especially as a company from the South, is a point of pride. “The state went through a devastating catastrophe that made us even more resilient. Being here is both a victory and a demonstration of the strength of our ecosystem”.

Headquartered in Porto Alegre, with national operations, Privacy Tools is also positioning itself at the forefront of one of today’s most pressing discussions: the responsible use of artificial intelligence. The company recently launched an AI Governance Module, which provides strategic and centralized management tools for all AI and data-related projects. The solution includes technology and regulation libraries, integration with international standards (such as the EU AI Act and OECD guidelines), as well as tools to assess vendors and implement action plans.

“Innovation is part of our DNA. We couldn’t look at AI without responsibility. Our role is to support companies in the ethical and transparent use of these technologies,” says Aline.

According to the CEO, participating in South Summit is about more than gaining visibility, it’s about making an impact. “This event goes beyond the local or national scope. It reaches the world. Being here, surrounded by global connections and perspectives, is a strategic step for our growth”.

The final round of the Startup Competition takes place on Thursday, April 11. In addition to gaining visibility, the winning startups will receive awards and opportunities to network with international investors and partners.
