Women and Science Award: Applications Open Until January 6

Applications for the Women and Science Award, organized by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), are open until January 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM. In addition to direct applications by interested researchers, institutions can also nominate candidates for the Stimulus and Trajectory categories.

This inaugural edition of the award will allocate approximately R$ 500,000 to recognize the scientific contributions of women and institutions that promote diversity, plurality, and gender equality in science, technology, and innovation.

Awards

  • Stimulus Category: R$ 20,000 for researchers up to 45 years old.
  • Trajectory Category: R$ 40,000 for researchers aged 46 or older.
  • Institutions: R$ 50,000 for organizations that excel in gender equality initiatives.

Up to nine initiatives will be awarded, divided into three major areas of knowledge:

  1. Life Sciences
  2. Exact Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Engineering
  3. Human and Social Sciences, Literature, and Arts

Partnerships and Support

In addition to CNPq and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI), the award is supported by the Ministry of Women (MM), the British Council Brazil, and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).
