Transforming the lives of truck drivers and improving the efficiency of transport companies is the mission of Motorista PX, a scale-up that connects independent professionals to transport companies. Through its innovative platform, which acts as a bridge between both parties, the company provides more freedom and flexibility to drivers while reducing idle fleet costs for companies.
According to Motorista PX’s founder and CEO, André Oliveira, unlike other platforms that connect drivers to available freight, this logistics tech platform connects professional drivers to transport companies that already have cargo to transport. “For example, if a transport company has 100 trucks, it can operate with a reduced number of fixed drivers and rely on our network of shared professional drivers to meet the excess demand flexibly and cost-effectively.”
Motorista PX’s dynamics resemble those of ride-sharing platforms, with an important difference: drivers do not need to own their own trucks. This approach reduces travel-related expenses and increases financial returns for drivers. Through the app, they can choose jobs based on criteria such as dates, destinations, trip duration, and cargo type, tailoring the journey to their preferences.
For transport companies, the platform provides an efficient hiring tool. Through an integrated CRM system, companies can access recent reviews, references from other businesses, and driver documentation, all in one place. This streamlines the hiring process, reduces bureaucracy, and lowers costs. Additionally, Motorista PX offers full legal and fiscal support, including coverage for incidents and life insurance, ensuring peace of mind for both drivers and companies.
Experience and Industry Knowledge
Founded in Joinville in 2019 by Oliveira and lawyer and former truck driver, Djefrei Pasch, Motorista PX now has 240,000 drivers and 1,000 transport companies registered on its platform, with an impressive average growth of 30% per month. “Our expertise accumulated over the years is applied at PX because we understand both the operational side of the roads and the bureaucratic side of transportation. Additionally, we travel across Brazil to speak with unions and professionals, deepening our understanding of the market,” explains Oliveira.
Operating on a “pay-as-you-go” model, the company achieved a 246% increase in revenue last year, totaling R$ 69 million. In October, it consolidated its market recognition by being highlighted in the Top 2 Brazil as a scale-up in the marketplace category at the 100 Startups to Watch award.
In 2021, PX received an investment of R$ 2 million in a round led by ACE Startups, with participation from BR Angels, GR8 Ventures, and Randon Ventures. Since then, it has expanded its operations, working in three main areas:
- Academia PX: training and qualification of drivers. Over 46,000 certifications have been issued to drivers across Brazil.
- Ajudante PX: temporary services connecting labor for loading, unloading, and other services.
- Plataforma PX: connects transport companies to the best-qualified drivers.
Excellence and Safety in Road Transport
Motorista PX stands out as one of Brazil’s five largest exporters in the road transport sector, with a projection to generate R$ 180 million in revenue this year and surpass R$ 300 million by 2025. Its operations are concentrated in states such as São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. Additionally, the platform is strengthening its presence in the Northeast. For Oliveira, the biggest challenge is activating local ecosystems, combining enough drivers and transport companies to ensure continuous operations. “Technology allows us to centralize operations in Joinville, but each location requires a balance between supply and demand to avoid creating labor bonds and to serve customers efficiently.”
After each trip, transport companies rate drivers with up to five stars, generating a reputation score, while drivers also rate the companies. Motorista PX also has an internal gamification system called “Nível PX” (PX Level), which classifies drivers into four categories. More qualified professionals have access to higher pay and additional benefits, encouraging excellence and continuous performance.
Oliveira explains that qualification is a priority at Motorista PX, especially when working with transport companies that handle high-risk cargo, such as hazardous liquids. “In the last five years, we haven’t had any fatal accidents, despite having one of the largest fleets of active drivers in Brazil. This result reflects our commitment to excellence and our rigorous selection of professionals.”
The focus on excellence is reflected in the low accident rate among drivers registered on the platform: data from the second half of 2024 shows that Motorista PX has an average of 4.29 incidents per 1 million kilometers driven. “When we look at clients who have received training from Academia PX, this rate drops to 1.92 incidents per 1 million kilometers driven in the same period. In other words, more than 55% lower compared to the global scenario,” Oliveira emphasizes.
Quality of Life and Good Compensation
Motorista PX’s business model offers a unique combination: a better lifestyle and higher pay. Oliveira explains that drivers can choose when and where they want to work, in addition to earning up to 40% more than the market average. “This attracts experienced drivers, young people entering the sector, and even retired professionals looking for occasional work.”
Furthermore, Motorista PX ensures that all trips comply with labor regulations. Drivers registered on the platform can work up to 12 hours a day, but if they exceed this limit, they have the right to stop the journey. Technological systems are used to monitor and ensure compliance with the law, promoting safety on the roads and responsibility in operations.
By combining technological innovation, professional qualification, and a commitment to safety and efficiency, Motorista PX is helping to transform road transport in Brazil. As the company expands its regional presence and invests in training, it consolidates its position as a reference in the industry, while helping drivers and transport companies overcome the challenges of a dynamic and competitive market.
